coots The narrator is writing her “truth” to her former lover. As the story progresses we notice that he becomes slightly more hostile towards her and she revels in it. That’s how you pity her, that’s how your heart breaks for her.
This was not about romance, but about manipulation and control. But the real highlight of the book is that how Cathy Coote has managed to create the heroine.
She’s playing grown up, but she doesn’t understand what she’s doing until it has been done – and then there is no going back. This book graphically details a sexual relationship between a year-old girl and her year-old high school English teacher. Let me try to explain why.

This book is, ultimately, an impressive accomplishment — a serious look at a taboo relationship from the standpoint of examining it on its own terms; with the understanding of how desire and power can work from both ends of the innocence and experience spectrum.
