I adored these stories But before that, this was the title story of a smaller collection: Is this short story ultimately a story about fernweh? Hence, he utilizes his skills at dissembling to solve a problem that began with dissembling. Shoes in the late s were made of gum rubber — the soft-soled precursors of the modern sneaker.
